November 13, 1956:  The U.S. Supreme Court rules that racial segregation on public buses is unconstitutional.

November 15, 1969:  The largest antiwar rally in U.S. history occurs as 250,000 persons gather in Washington, D.C., to protest the Vietnam War.

November 17, 1734:  New York Weekly Journal publisher John Peter Zenger is arrested and charged with libeling the colonial governor of New York. In his trial the following year, truth was successfully used as a defense against libel–an important early step toward freedom of the press in America.
